How to link a slider to a bar chart?

0

Hello Quadrigram team,

I am trying to link a slider to a bar chart with multiple years of data. Is there any way to condense the size of the chart and have the slider connected to the x-axis of the chart such that as you scroll through the slider the years would change on the x-axis automatically displaying different year ranges on the bar chart.

    Hello Dana,

Thanks for writing! Unfortunately it is not possible to do this with bar charts. However, this is possible with either a Line or Stacked Area Chart.

To do this, select Range Selector from the controls menu.

Once selected, in the range of the slider the min is the first year (e.g. 2001) and the max is the final year (e.g. 2015), if it is for year over year then you want step to be 1.

Now that the slider is selected you want the output from the slider where you want the start value and end value to interact with the line or stacked area chart.

With the line chart selected you want to go the panel on the right hand side and go to axis to drag and drop the start value with the min and the end value with the max.

Now the slider can interact with the line chart, you can condense the size of the chart by dragging the slide together. I hope this helps!
